Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the duo.
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order placed a embargo on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the probe.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
In the wake of the tragedy, public figures expressed varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and suggested they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser could have stepped in when the decision to comment on the passing was made.
