Reports indicate that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
The duo are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their appearance will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, considering the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The film's story are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
