Ex-Treasury chief Larry Summers is departing from the directorate at the artificial intelligence firm, just days after a series of digital correspondence between him and notorious criminal the disgraced billionaire became publicly available.

The economist stated in a release that he was "grateful for the chance to have served, excited about the potential of the organization, and eagerly await observing their progress".

The former Harvard president, who formerly headed Harvard University, declared on recently that he would be withdrawing from public commitments due to his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

The freshly disclosed emails demonstrated that the economist corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein until the 24 hours preceding the financier's 2019 detention for accused trafficking of underage individuals.

In another announcement, the technology organization stated it respected the economist's choice to resign.

This news comes after the entire Congress of Congress agreed on this week to pass a bill that would compel the Department of Justice to release its records on the case.

A batch of Epstein-connected messages made public by the legislative panel recently included numerous well-known personalities in the Epstein's past associates, without indicating any illegal behavior by those individuals.

The communications indicated that Summers and the financier often met for meals, with Epstein often trying to connect the official to prominent international personalities.

After the emails were made available with the general audience, the former official stated he accepted "complete accountability for my misguided choice to persist in corresponding with Jeffrey Epstein".

He added that he desired "to rebuild confidence and mend bonds with the people most important to me".

Professional History

The professor held leadership roles under party leaders; serving as economic leader under President Clinton, and as director of the White House economic team under the former leader.

He presided over Harvard from the early 2000s and is still a faculty member there. When stating his step-down from public duties earlier on this week, he said he would maintain his academic responsibilities.
