Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years since relocating so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Barça organized an open training session at the Camp Nou earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
